Our research team develops solutions for a wide variety of new or unusual intumescent applications. Here, for instance, we were called in by Stord / Haugesund University College in Norway who were concerned about the spread of fire through windows and into roofs through eave vents.
The illustrations show the roof vent we developed which successfully held back the fire and smoke from passage into the roof void above.
Our experience in developing and manufacturing hundreds of products and working with a wide variety of intumescent materials means that we are able to identify which compounds work most effectively for a given application. In the vast majority of cases we can accurately predict whether intumescent technology would be able to solve a particular problem. In some cases, where there are few precendents for the use of intumescent materials, small scale tests may be required to establish the likely feasibilty of a solution.
