Therm-A-Stop is a new generation of combined fire and smoke seal, designed for use in fire door assemblies which are required to control the spread of smoke and flame during a fire. The casings contain an expandable graphite-based intumescent compound which unlike some products, is unaffected by moisture in the air and so does not require to be carefully protected when being fitted. The brush piles include a thin polypropylene fin to reduce the flow of ambient smoke. The seals are rebated into the head and jambs.

Therm-A-Stop Seals are suitable for

FD20S, FD30S and FD60S single and double doorsets in timber, steel (or both).
Single action and double swing doorsets (latched or unlatched).
Controlling the flow of ambient temperature smoke during the early stages of a fire.

Therm-A-Stop is available in brown, white, cream and red casings as standard with grey pile which projects 5mm beyond the casing which is sufficient for most leaf-frame gaps although an alternative is available for larger gaps. Therm-A-Stop is supplied in standard lengths of 1050mm and 2100mm (with or without double-sided self-adhesive tape on the underside of the PVC casing). The casings are available in the following nominal dimensions: 10 x 4mm, 15 x 4mm, 20 x 4mm, 25 x 4mm, 30 x 4 mm, 38 x 4mm, 10 x 5mm and 20 x 5mm.

Therm-A-Stop Seals meet the requirements of BS 5588 'Fire Precautions in the design and construction of buildings' and have passed numerous tests carried out in accordance with BS 476 : parts 20, 22 & 31.1 (details are available on request).

Single length of Therm-A-Stop 10 x 4mm or 10 x 5mm down each jamb & depending on the door a wider section may be required across the head.

Latched single-leaf, single-swing 60 minute (FD60S) timber fire doors:
Single length of Therm-A-Stop 20 x 4mm or 20 x 5mm down each jamb & across the head. Un-latched doors may require additional protection across the head.
