Therm-A-Plate intumescent lining plate has been developed to enable tenants in tower blocks and houses in multiple occupation to have a letter box through their 'front door' - without compromising on the doors' ability to hold back a fire (whether they are rated to 30 or 60 minutes' fire resistance).

Each Therm-A-Plate kit consists of four strips of specially formulated intumescent compound which are pre-cut to the correct width for 45mm or 54mm thick door leaves. These are fixed using the high bond strength self-adhesive backing tape provided except in large apertures, where the top and bottom strips are pinned into place. Each kit comes in one of two thicknesses. For small apertures (up to 50mm high) a 4mm thick Therm-A-Plate kit is required. For apertures of 85mm or 120mm high, a 6mm thick Therm-A-Plate kit is required.

Therm-A-Plate is suitable for use in

Timber doors rated for 30 and 60 minutes fire resistance with 45mm or 54mm thick leaves.
Apertures measuring 50mm x 250mm, 85mm x 250mm & 120mm x 300mm.

Therm-A-Plate has passed numerous tests carried out in accordance with BS 476 : part 22 (1987). Details are available on request.
