Therm-A-Smoke is a cold smoke seal for use in fire resisting doorsets, primarily in conjunction with an intumescent fire seal that is concealed behind the door lipping. The seals comprise high density brush pile (incorporating a thin polypropylene fin) encased in PVC and are usually rebated into the door frame to prevent the flow of cold smoke prior to the activation of intumescent material at a higher temperature which expands to fill the gap between door leaf and frame.

Therm-A-Smoke (in combination with appropriate intumescent protection) is suitable for

FD20S, FD30S and FD60S single and double doorsets in timber, steel (or both).
Single action and double swing doorsets (latched or unlatched).

Therm-A-Smoke is available in brown or white and supplied in a standard size of 1050mm (length) x 10mm (width) x 3mm (depth) with double-sided self-adhesive tape on the underside of the PVC casing. The brush pile projects 5mm from the casing which is sufficient for most door-to-frame gaps (which are typically 3-4mm) although an alternative is available for larger gaps.

Therm-A-Smoke has passed numerous tests carried out in accordance with BS 476 : Part 31.1 (details available on request).
